Ok, so here's my first post on my new blog, but first, an introduction.
Calm down, Blue Yoshi is not dead. Well, not completely. It's just been a while since I last wrote in it because I stopped for school and now it's hard to build up momentum again. So this here blog that I just made is going to be for my personal stuff. And it's going to be a photoblog. Thank you, Dennis, for the idea.

So anyways, this is my post about AX 2010. This was my very first Anime Expo ever. I attended all 4 days and took lots of pictures so here we go.
Start//Day 1

So, we got to the convention center. We being me, Josh, Jay, Dennis, and Ryan. Had to stand in line because the previous day had cut us out of the line, but it moved along fairly quickly.

On day 0, the day before day 1, of course, we saw a preview of the types and qualities of the cosplay that we were gonna see. It was...unique. I didn't take any pictures of the bad ones, because anyone can just look those up. But there were some really sweet ones.

I'm not really sure what this is, but it was really cool.

So we got inside the building got our tags and bags and rags that we hung our tags on to brag about our saggy lag. And damn there were a WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE IN THERE.

And almost immediately, we saw hundreds of costumes and people cosplaying. But only one stood out in the first few moments. We saw a nurse from Silent Hill walk by. I turned to Josh and said, "Hey, isn't that the nurse from Silent Hill?" She heard me, turned around freakishly, and did this SCARYASS ZOMBIE WALK. We all backed up and screamed, "BACK UP, BITCH!" And then we got a picture.

There were some other pretty cool cosplayers too.

Not really sure what this is.

My favorite Pokemon.

Vash the Stampede. Pretty sweet and the best out of all the Vashes.
Pretty much the first hours were us walking around the convention center and looking at people and looking at things. When the exhibit hall opened, I was like...WOW. More pictures on that later. I didn't take any on the 1st day. We then looked at the schedule and decided to go to a screening of Samurai 7.

Not really sure if I could take pictures, but I did. It was pretty ok, I should look into that series later. Then we did more stuff. And then...back to the exhibit hall. I might add that throughout our 4 days at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the exhibit hall was the location which most of our time was spent.
To explain the exhibit hall is both simple and difficult. It's kind of like a big shopping center, but it isn't. Or is it? Well on one side you have the artists and their works up for sale.

Lots of them were really cool and by the end of day 4, I had lots of pieces of paper in my possession with pretty pictures on them.
Also, in the exhibit hall, we were not free from the many crowds of people who cosplayed. Many, I have to add, were something to gape at.

WAR MACHINE, MAN. THIS COSTUME WAS LEGIT.

At a convention with a bunch of people dressed like little girls, you just knew Pedobear would be there.

WAO ASSASSIN'S CREED.
So, we ended up going in and out of the exhibit hall and then at the very end of the day we went to a screening for a movie called the Sword of the Stranger. It was REALLY cool and I recommend it to most people. Anyways here are some notable pictures from the rest of day 1.

A scene from Durarara, I guess...

The best Taokaka at AX. It's even in alternate colors costume!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Gundam wall

I like this scene.

Without a doubt, one of the most Japanese things I've ever seen. Boobie mousepads.

I've never seen any Gundam anime, but these costumes look really well done.

PRINCESS MONONOKE. Crappy picture. I either need a new camera or find out how to set shit up if I want better pictures.
End//Day1
Start//Day2
Day 2 was really awesome because by this time it hit me that I have 3 whole days ahead of me just like day 1. Well, I wasn't excited for the eye-raping costumes but everything else, man, get hype. Start off the day and who do I see first?

Motherfucking Deadmau5. I can't even believe someone dressed up as Deadmau5 for ANIME EXPO. ANIME!!!! BUT IT WAS STILL FKING COOL.
So of course, from all the good responses we got at the exhibit hall, we went back there right away. More looking around at prints and looking at people and looking at things that we wanted to buy.

Josh and Jay with their beloved Gundams.

Kakashi looking at prints. Where be his Come Come Paradise?

A pretty decent Deidara and unmasked Madara along with Sagat on the side lol.

Mrs. Pac Man and ghost. Was it Inky or Blinky?

I'm gonna guess that's Scarecrow.
So yeah, we went around shopping. I think the main focus of the day was swords. Dennis was with us for Day 1 only and he wanted a sword, but we didn't get one. But we knew what he wanted so we got it for him. Also, everyone else was browsing for a sword.

In the end we got Dennis a pair of short black ninja swords, Ryan got a stacked sword, Jay got a replica of Rukia's sword, and Josh got himself a wooden kendo stick. Which one does not belong? LOL
During our route in the hall, we saw a guy who might have been Danny Choo (because of his storm trooper outfit), but on closer inspection, we realized it wasn't him. But I liked his costume anyways.

Couple more quick exhibit hall pictures:

This wasn't actually in the exhibit hall, but this is a nice Kamina and Yoko duo. Also, this picture is just to prove how many Yoko's there were. This Yoko has a nice costume (and a nice figure), but it still wasn't the best one in my opinion. I'll show THAT one later.

This is the same Kamina with an Umbreon and a Lucario. Kinda cool.

That one dragon from that one movie.

This was really cool. Even though it has nothing to do with anime, just look at it. It's Ronald holding the Burger King's head with Carl's Jr., Wendy's, KFC Colonel, and Jack in the Box. I think this group was there for like at least 10-20 minutes posing.

I think this was like the only person that dressed up like Phoenix Wright. Which makes me sad. I would have loved to have seen more Phoenixes with their OBJECTIONS like that. This one was done well. Not sure who the guy with the mug is yet.

Howl's pose was awesome. Nice Calcifer, too.

The girls of Guilty Gear. EXCEPT BRIDGET. BECAUSE I WILL HAVE EVERYONE KNOW RIGHT NOW THAT BRIDGET IS NOT A GIRL. BRIDGET IS JUST A GIRLY BOY OK? DON'T BE FOOLED.

LOL Totoro.
So we went out of the exhibit hall with all our purchases and shiz and we were gonna go on our way to the Eden of the East panel, since we couldn't find Danny Choo. On the way we saw one more sick group. One of my favorite fighting game franchises...

STREET FIGHTER. I have so much to say about these two pictures. Starting with the first picture, IT'S SO SATISFYING TO FINALLY SEE A RUFUS. With all these guys of these size at the expo, you'd think there'd be like 20 of them, but no, this was the only one. And for that, I have a LOT of respect. The Ryu is ok; not much to say about a white fighting suit and a red headband. I really liked how this Juri turned out. Her hair is pretty accurate along with the pants and the top. Now let's take a look at the second picture. What was really funny is that before I even saw this group, I wished that I would see a Cammy in her alternate 2 costume. While I didn't think this was possible, someone actually did it. And what stuns me even more is the accuracy of the costume itself. It goes from the cap, to the shin guards, the suit, and even the tattoos. EVEN THE MOTHERFUKING TATTOOS WERE SPOT-ON. It was the Z shape I was looking for and it absolutely blew me away. This Dhalsim was equally amazing. His pose, the three skulls, the eyes, and the red paint. These two costumes were probably the best out of the Street Fighter pool.
And now, on to the main event.
So we went to an event for Eden of the East. Before I came to AX I watched it because Jay had recommended it to me. I liked it for the most part. The event consisted of a screening of the first 4 episodes of the English version, and then a Q&A session with a panel consisting of members from the crew behind the anime STRAIGHT FROM JAPAN.

All of us could not believe how popular this anime was. There was a line for this event going stretching across hallways and rooms that we had to go searching for the end. But the room was huge and everyone got to have a seat. The English dub wasn't bad. But the only complaint I have is...well...never mind. If you see the anime, I'll tell you my complaint. We stayed for all 4 episodes of the screening while some people came in and went out. I tell you, it was pretty hype in there. Any little thing that happened in the anime would get people cheering or clapping. It was an awesome experience. The panel came shortly after.

This was really cool because I've never actually seen people speaking Japanese as fluently as they do. Which might seem really weird but ok whatever. There was also a huge line for asking questions to the panel. They were also some pretty good questions.

It was really funny when the host said, "It's time for Q&A!" and this 30ish year old man RUNS up to be first in line. Overall, it was satisfying to be in there and I was happy.
Walking out of the event, we saw a few more sweet costumes.

The alien symbiote and the newspaper boy. I mean, Venom and Spider-Man.

The Smash Bros. version of Solid Snake.

Code Geass stuff.

The arrancar from Bleach.
End//Day 2
Start//Day 3
Day 3, we were down to 3 people: Me, Jay, and Josh. It was also the day I decided to go in my Halloween costume.

MR. GAME AND WATCH. I made a few adjustments to the costume and took it with me to AX day 3. It was kind of annoying for me cuz I had limited vision and limited hearing in that thing. But it was probably more annoying for Josh and Jay because there would occasionally be people who would stop and ask for a picture, so that kind of slowed us down. Also, Josh mentioned that he was jealous that nobody recognized that they dressed up as Yellow Scarves. I thought it was cool, though lol.

So day three was mainly a shopping day. Our home base was the exhibit hall and we looked at things so hard that our eyes started crying blood. I think it was also the day that I actually started buying stuff. And let me tell you...once the money starts flowing from the wallet, it does NOT stop.
So we saw even more cool costumes inside. Here they are:

Ganondorf! Looks like he's been ripped straight out of Twilight Princess.

No idea what this is. But the costume is nice.

Group of samurai-ish people. Nice quality costumes.

Josh with the Hi-Chew King. So this is where all of it comes from...

Dennis's favorite person at AX. We just happened to see her again so we asked for a picture.

THIS was my favorite Yoko. You can say what you want, but I thought it was the best one there. I'm not sure if it was my imagination, but I think I saw her again on day 4 with a maid costume on. Alter egos ftw.

QFT

The original team back together haha. Not bad at all.

TK from Angel Beats. This guy is so sick. When we asked for a picture, he immediately pulled the headband over his eyes and struck this pose. I almost expected him to headspin and say, "GET CHANCE AND LUCK." Besides this guy, there was one other person who dressed up from Angel Beats, but I didn't get a picture cuz he looked busy.

Group cosplay is always fun. Here we have the Straw Hat Crew all the way to Chopper. Sorry, no Nico Robin.

I think the middle one is supposed to be Tousen, but I don't know who the other two are.

Quick funny story. So you might recognize the nurse from day 1. Well, when we saw her in the exhibit hall again on day 3, Josh turned to her and said, "We meet again." The nurse immediately turned toward us, but this time she didn't do her freaky zombie walk. THIS time, she fucking SPRINTED after us. So all of us ran till the fuck leaked out of our bodies. Like our feet didn't hurt already lol.
Oh, another funny story. When Jay and I went to a table to rest, it seemed that we lost Josh in the crowd. When we called him, he said he was at an area where they were giving away free posters. So we ran back to get some sweet $0 merchandise. The posters they were giving out were from my favorite anime, Lucky Star. So I was pretty happy. There was a whole stack of Lucky Star posters and below that was a stack of Code Geass posters. When people asked for the Geass posters, the people handing them out said that they weren't allowed to give them out till the Lucky Star posters were gone. So the three of us stood there until the Lucky Star posters ran out and then we got us some Code Geass posters. There was another stack below that so we stood there again. But it was from some movie or anime that I had never heard of so after that we just left and went to a table to rest.

So we wrapped up our journey in the exhibit hall and collected ourselves at a table. That was pretty much it for the day. The rest of the day we would spend at the main area where we would probably be taking pictures of people. Which we did. So here they are.

When Zangief saw that I was taking a picture of him, he just dropped his bag and posed on reaction. Hehe.

Awesome Deadpool. This pose just captures the silliness of his character. And this isn't the last we'll see of him either, so hold on...

I thought this was pretty creative.

Surprisingly, there weren't that many Ichigos at AX. Or as many as I thought there would be.

YOU'RE MISSING THE BEST PART. The best part is all the way to the left side. ^^
While Josh and Jay were outside, I went back inside to take more pictures when a huge circle opened up in the middle of the floor. I went over to see what was going on. And guess who was in the middle?

Deadpool and Red Power Ranger. Yeah, who else would you expect? I went closer and I saw Deadpool pulling off breakdancing moves right in front of the Red Power Ranger, calling him out. In turn, the Red Power Ranger started doing headspins. By this point, the crowd was going apeshit. I went outside to tell Jay and Josh about it, and Josh switched places with me and I just hung out outside. He came back a few minutes later and said the crowd got broken up. What a shame.

Well that was pretty much it. This post is running a long time and I'm on the third day...just one more day to go.
End//Day 3
Start//Day 4
Day 4 was the day that all of us were looking forward to. The Super Street Fighter 4 tournament would be held in the afternoon in the console gaming room. Jeremy joined us for Sunday, so we needed to go pick up his badge and stuff before we could do anything.
We got his stuff, so we went over to the console gaming room to register for the tournament. Unfortunately, it was closed. So take a wild guess where we went. No seriously, just take a wild-ass guess.
...
Yes...that's correct.
After we were done looking around the exhibit hall for a little, we went back to the console gaming room to register and pretty much hung out there until the Street Fighter tournament began.

With nothing else really to do, we started playing some random games and watching random people play random games. I occasionally went over to the Smash Bros. area to see if anyone was using Mr. Game and Watch. If they were, I would have put on my Game and Watch costume and yelled, "GET HYPE FOR 2D." For a while we were stuck around THIS TV pictured up here. I'd never seen the game before but it looked entertaining. Then I saw freaken Puyo Pop Fever for Gamecube on another TV and I ran my ass over there and started playing. Oh yeah, I saw this one guy dressed up as Yun in the room.

So after a while the tournament started. Man it was pretty slow having a whole bunch of matches on 3 TVs. I was the first one out of all of us to play and my match was...pretty bad. For me. Maybe if I wasn't nervous I could've won, but for all I know, that guy could've been nervous too, so in conclusion, I lost fair and square. Then we all watched Jeremy's match. [...] Y'know, Jeremy's not really a bad player. It's just...some guys out there just took a class in Rape 101. Also, button checks are essential. Jeremy and I no longer had a place in the bracket so we left Josh and Jay in there. We went back to the exhibit hall to spend our last few hours to shop. Josh and Jay met up with us later. Jay won his match, but boned out to go shopping with us. Josh didn't even play and he still boned out. So we all split up eventually and started buying the crap out of things. I bought even more prints and some plushies. I didn't find the Totoro one I wanted though. I didn't take any more pictures either because I didn't want to waste any time.
The exhibit hall closed early and we got out to the main area where we took even more pictures.

Honestly, what's this supposed to be? I just took a picture cuz everyone else was taking a picture LOL.

I don't know if this is the same Power Ranger from day 3, but this time he had a sword with him.

PORCO ROSSO. Hooray for cosplay from Miyazaki.

And with that, Anime Expo 2010 came to a close. I still miss it. I'm definitely planning on going next year because it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had in a while. We need even more people to go because as of now, we're planning on doing some Air Gear cosplay. Because group cosplaying gets lots of attention =D

So, yes, overall I was very satisfied with Anime Expo 2010. Please come again soon, AX! And now I will close with a picture of a kappa.

DAMN, THAT WAS A LONG-ASS POST.
